What’s new on The Codex

Everything that has shipped, newest first. 28 updates, last one 4 August 2026.

4 August 2026

  • New

Share a finished week from your squad

Every row under Past weeks has a Card link now. It opens a podium image for that week, with the winner crowned and the runners-up either side, ready to paste into Discord. Previously only the week in progress had one, which is the one week whose result can still change.

  • Improved

XP tracking and XP analytics are one tab

They answered the same question in two formats, so you had to open both. They are one tab under Progress called XP over time: the chart shows the shape of the last few weeks, and the breakdown underneath says how much XP went into which skills. Old links to either tab still work.

  • Improved

Skill tiles show progress and rank

The tiles are bigger and carry more: how far you are into the level, what the next one costs, and your rank in that skill. Fully finished sections, like core combat unlocks when you already have all of them, fold down to a single line you can open if you want the detail.

  • Fixed

Goals no longer claim impossible progress

A maxed skill reports its capped level while XP keeps climbing, and the goals list measured that against the next level anyway. On a maxed account it could say things like 13613% of the way to Constitution 100. It now says nothing at all for a skill that is already at its cap, which is the honest answer.

  • Fixed

Big unlocks no longer sticks on loading

If the quest data failed to load, the big unlocks card sat on its loading placeholder forever instead of giving up, because a failed request looked exactly like one still in flight. It now stands down quietly, and the rest of the profile is unaffected either way.

  • Improved

A new look for the site on desktop

The header bar is gone. On the home page the sections are set into the page under the wordmark, and once you scroll past them a slim strip takes over. Its crest opens the whole site at once, grouped into You, Explore, Tools & guides and The Codex. Phones are unchanged.

  • Improved

The background has some life in it

Colour washes behind the page drift and breathe instead of sitting still, and a fine grain over the top keeps it from looking like flat black. It all switches off if you have reduced motion turned on.

3 August 2026

  • Fixed

Your dashboard lists every alert, not just some

If you had alerts for several players, the dashboard could show only the ones you set up most recently. It now finds all of them, and repairs the record the first time you open it.

  • Improved

    The menu on phones, reorganised

The bar is Home, Ranks, You, Discover and More, with You as a button in the middle that takes you straight to your dashboard. The More menu is grouped into You, Explore, Tools & guides and The Codex instead of one long run of tiles.

  • Fixed

The dashboard, Discover and this page work on a phone

All three were reachable from the desktop menu and nowhere else, so on a phone you could only get to them by typing the address.

  • New

    Your dashboard

Everything The Codex tracks for you now lives at one address: your claimed accounts, every alert with its settings editable in place, your squads, favourites and recently-viewed players.

  • New

Manage every alert from one page

Alerts used to be reachable only from the bell on each player’s profile, so following five players meant five visits to change anything. They are all on your dashboard now.

  • Improved

A proper navigation bar on desktop

The side rails are gone. Navigation moved to a header that matches the glass bar on phones, with a search button that opens the command palette, which was previously keyboard-only, so most people never knew it was there.

  • Improved

Live activity and trending moved to Discover

The live feed, trending searches, event countdown and RS3 news used to sit in a desktop rail that only appeared on very wide screens. They are on the Discover page now, so everyone gets them.

  • Fixed

Tapping search no longer zooms the page on iPhone

iOS zooms whenever a text field is smaller than 16px, which made the search bar lurch the whole layout. Every field is now large enough that it does not trigger, without disabling pinch-zoom.

2 August 2026

  • Improved

XP Analytics, Tracker and Goals are open to everyone

These three tabs used to require a Discord sign-in. They no longer do: the charts, heatmap and projected milestone dates are there for every visitor.

  • Improved

A new navigation bar on phones

The bottom bar is now a floating glass capsule that highlights where you are, and the More menu grows out of it rather than sliding in as a separate panel.

  • New

More ways to share a squad

The share button on a squad now offers a copyable image link, a page link, a direct download, and your phone’s own share sheet.

  • New

    Your squads on your profile

The squads you race in show up on your own profile, visible only to you, so you can jump straight into one the way you already could with clans.

  • Fixed

Discord alerts show a real timestamp

Notifications said things like "in 12 minutes" because RuneScape’s activity clock runs ahead. They now carry an absolute UTC time, which reads the same wherever you are.

  • Fixed

The homepage stopped rebuilding itself on every load

A timing bug made the browser throw away and re-render the whole homepage as it loaded. Gone, and the page settles immediately now.

1 August 2026

  • New

    50 quest requirement pages

Every flagship quest now has its own page listing the skills, levels and quests you need first, checked against your account.

31 July 2026

  • Improved

    Richer Discord activity alerts

Activity notifications carry the proper icon and artwork for what happened instead of a broken image and a wall of text.

30 July 2026

  • New

    Rivalry alerts

Watch another player and The Codex will DM you when one of you overtakes the other.

  • Improved

    Discord notifications, rebuilt

Alerts are built around what actually happened: real skill and item art, the correct icons, and a layout that reads at a glance.

  • New

    Privacy Policy and Terms

Both are published, and the About page now describes exactly what is stored and what is not.

  • Improved

    Faster, steadier profile loading

The homepage feeds render on the server, the hero collapses the moment you search, and the profile no longer jumps around while it fills in.

  • Improved

Better for screen readers and keyboards

Proper landmarks, a skip link, and real names on every icon-only button.
